Novelty Daughter is the moniker of Brooklyn-based musician Faith Harding. Born in 2012 out of the desire to combine her background in jazz vocals and piano with the inspiration of electronic artists on labels such as Brainfeeder and Warp Records, the project has since followed a stylistic wanderlust, picking up along the way influences from off-kilter dance production and avant-garde pop experimentation. Above all, Harding roots her work and finds motivation in continuing the tradition of the maverick female auteur, drawing from the blueprints of artists like Bjork, Tune-Yards, Laurel Halo, Mal Devisa, Mitski, and Jenny Hval--who all, in the same way she hopes to, explore themes of the self, vulnerability, and intimacy with a refreshing and original perspective, through both skillful songwriting and unconventional sounds.
"Like a welcome fever dream, incorporating disco and jazz and a free-flowing sense of time to craft a wholly unique experience."
